Trying to reformat & reinstall XP

Trying to reformat & reinstall XP.

During the boot, XP starts installing and hits this wall called session3 intialization failed.

It describes how I should erase recent software additions. This is an old laptop that got infected that I am trying to ressurect.

Please help?

And your didnt start the install from inside the old OS did ya?

Id maybe try deleting all the partitions using DBAN via a floppy disk or maybe diskpart via a BartPE CD, then trying to boot from the XP CD you have.

XP on the unit previously?
how much memory? 128, 256, 512?

I think I found the issue. If you google the session3_initialization_failed, you will find that it is an issue with old XP cd's being incompatable with newer ROM drives.

The solution is to create the XP cd with SP2...

Unless, I am mistaken?

Right, that is what the error translates to but like I said, the older XP CD's without SP2 has compatability issues with newer CD/DVD Rom drives...

If you google it, check on the links to other forums. I can't recall off the top of my head which ones though...
