Trying to quit caffiene

I am not uber additcted as i know some people are.. but i am up to 4 sodas a day (cans) and 2 bottles... it needs to stop.

I find it strange that you worry more about the caffeine than the damn calories from what looks to be ~80 ounces of soda a day.

How much are you drinking now a day? When I cut back, I just start drinking water more often..

I hardly drink any caffeine. Partly because I don't think it does much for me. Partly because Coke/Pepsi are acidic and my stomach can't take it. And so on...

I've quit. Mostly because I'd get withdrawl headaches. When I quit, I just drank water instead of sodas. Now I'll drink some non-caffeine soda's on occasion, but, 95% I'll drink water. When I do have something with caffeine I make a point not to have it again for as long as possible, so, I don't get hooked.

Think of all the money you'll save and calories/chemicals you'll be avoiding. That helps.

I'm trying to cut back but not quit caffeine. The smell of coffee in the morning is hard to resist plus i've got a bunch of BI's (bad influences) at work!

I usually take my caffeine in the form of black coffee, so there's not all that much in the way of added chemicals/calories.
It's also free at work.

Don't try and quit cold, your body won't like it at all if you've been drinking caffine on a regular basis. Headaches, irregular sleeping patterns, and a metabolism slower than a Civic with dual exhaust pipes.

Ween yourself off. Drinker a smaller cup of coffee and eat an apple or something in the morning to keep your energy up. Start avoiding sodas or drinking non-caffinated ones (Sprite, Sierra Mist). If you use any painkillers, avoid ones with caffine content (Excedrin).

yea meh... going excessive all out is how u screw up.

how easy depends on genetics. i can stop for a week and nothin happens😛

i took exedrin once, kept me up all night. if you cant guess, i dont drink caffeinated beverages very often, never found them to be better than anything else.

Agreed. Caffeine is the best legal drug. Evar. 🙂
No way. Alcohol is so much better than caffeine.

I can only partially agree with you. Sure, alcohol is the best, but there is much more flexibility with caffeine. We can't drink alcohol at work or while driving - well, legally that is.

Of course he will. It just takes time. I quit caffiene 2 years ago and it was hard for the first few weeks. Then the headaches went away and I was good to go 🙂

I gave up cokes and sodas about two weeks ago(well, I still drink coke with a side of crown).

Anyhow, I stopped drinking cokes, and started drinking tea, then I stopped drinking tea, and started drinking water.

I figured that I could give up one thing at a time to make it easier.

coke: caffeine, taste

Tea: caffeine

Water: nothing

Get the idea?

That is how I did it.

I think the sugar will be the thing that gets ya.

I was up to 2 cups of coffee a day when I decided to drink somthing else in the morning, but I don't put any sugar in the coffee. 6 sodas? I think that's going to be a sugar rush addiction.

Hmmm. I gave up coffee when the bod would no longer tolerate caffeine. Ditto booze. (How'm I gonna celebrate anything anymore?)

Try quitting caffeine; it's harder. 😉
