Interesting that you'd want a custom case for an OEM computer. As long as I can remember, the OEMs used standard parts, except that BIOS and RAM were tweaked to make them proprietary. Ram for instance had changes made to SPD, and for Dell, you could only buy RAM specifically made or configured for -- well -- hell . . . Dell.

The only thing of which I'd assure myself, I suppose, is the motherboard. It should be made either to ATX or mATX spec. Locate the mounting holes; measure their distances one from another with a ruler (and computer turned off.) I'm sure that it meets standard ATX/mATX spec, but satisfy yourself. I frankly think my own recommendation here is a bit nutty.

I'd just cover my bases, that's all . . .

By "custom case" I assume you just mean an aftermarket case like you'd buy if you were building a PC.

This is what the inside of your case looks like, with the addition of the GTX760?

*edited* I thought i was looking at an mATX mobo at first, but it seems like it's too wide for mATX, but not quite long enough for full ATX. The power supply looks like a normal ATX, but I'm not sure about that motherboard.

Did you have a particular case in mind? Are you just trying to get better cooling than the Dell case?

looks like a standard micro ATX board to me.

edit: It looks like the model# for that motherboard is IPIMB-AR. Definitely micro ATX.

Yeah, I think you're right. I had to go look at mATX specs, there is more variation allowed than I realized. I was getting confused looking at mATX boards on newegg and seeing different mounting hole layouts. A lot of the boards look like they are not full width and only use 2 mounting hole locations across.

I've always used ATX, which seems to be the same across the board...
