I did some digging and found an old copy of privateer. Anyways i installed it and everythiing but when i try to run it on the cmd it just gives me this error msg

"Protected mode drive is not responding to EMS function calls. Make sure your EMS driver is not configured with the NOEMS option. If it is, replace the options "NOEMS" with "RAM"

Anyone know how to fix this? i know this is a longshot since win2k doesn't even have does but figured it was worth a try

Find the program's main EXE, right click on it and select Properties. On the Memory tab, under the EMS Memory option change it from none to one of the numbers listed. (2048 would be enough) click Apply and then OK.

If the program still refuses to run there is probably not much more you can do. Win2k/XP do not have DOS. When you run a DOS program the OS starts up a DOS emulator. The emulator does not work well with some alot of apps.

Starting with SP2, Win2k added compatibility modes. Run "regsvr32 %systemroot%\apppatch\slayerui.dll" to turn them on. Adjusting the compatibility may also be useful.

Also, I've seen some good info, especially on getting sound going in DOS games on W2K/XP on abandonware sites.....and in forums linked from their sites. I think they also now have a couple user made DOS emulators, available from those type sites. Dunno how they work.

My fave is http://www.the-underdogs.org

The links there will get you started.

Let us know if you get it going.
