They both seem to be very good headets and im not worried about price, i just want to make sure evrything i hear on cs 1.6 is clear and crisp. What do you guys think will be better for that?

It's not a suggestion, I know, but I'm curious. Honestly, at that price point, you'd be better off with a good pair of normal headphones and a cheap standalone (probably clip-on) mic, but I assume you want an all-in-one unit.

I havent really been hearing that great stuff about sennheiser, been looking at diff forums and stuff and they say to get the icemat. They say its wat comfortable than the sennheisers and look better. About the steelpad im still trying to decide between icemat and steelpad. Plz give more opinions on what you guys think i should get between these 2 headsets!

Some of Sennheiser's products aren't the best, others are almost universally thought to be fantastic. It is a bad idea to rule out a manufacturer simply based on reports from people in forums who almost certainly don't know what they're talking about. Imagine if you saw someone advising against ATi because they had a Rage 128 and it sucked, or maybe because they put their video card in backwards and it broke.

That aside, the Icemat Siberia looks like it's a pair of headphones with a separate clip-on mic. There's nothing wrong with this approach, but if you don't mind using a clip-on mic then you would be better off avoiding it, and if you DO mind using a clip-on mic then you shouldn't even be looking at it. Either way, I'd say it's ruled out.

Yea, i guess your right. But I myself think that the icemat siberia is good becuz of the clip on mic and since a lot of people have said that its really comfortable for gaming, i game for 6 hours a day, and on weekends around 7, so i play a lot and i believe that the icemat should be good for that

If you want a clip-on mic, don't bother with any of these headphones. Buy a cheap clip-on mic and a pair of good headphones, you'll get better sound than any of these overpriced "gamer headsets" will offer. And don't worry, many high-end headphones are highly comfortable (mainly the circumaural ones).

Head-Fi (www.head-fi.org) has a lot of good information on headphones, but the higher-end stuff is buried within audiophile nonsense. Shouldn't be an issue if you stick to your budget.

xoxide has the Zalman-branded clip-on (ZM-MIC1), but they're out of stock. xpcgear.com sells it too, looks like, and they have a decent rating (~8.6) on ResellerRatings.

I think you are confused, uber indicates extremely good(actually, ultimate)- these headsets are both what you call 'low end crap'.

In terms of the reccomendations for Sennheiser- they make everything from $8 low end crap to $2K can/amp combos. You may have heard about crappy Senns, there is no doubt they are out there, but they also do make what can arguably be called uber headphones.

You want a setup for gaming, do you want sealed or open? Comfort is a concern for you(ruling out Grados), but what factors are the largest elements- fit, weight, padding? The cans you listed both are driven fairly easily- is this something you are concerened with more then sound quality?

Hook them up properly and you will very easily hear the limitations of your MP3s. You really need a lossless codec for a high end setup(of course, not like most small aircraft has a decent audio setup anyway ).
