I've been trying overclock a dual 366 setup to 550 for some time. I've got them up to 97 mhz which seems to be stable. I recently bought a case fan which allows me to go up to 97, before 96 mhz bus was the highest I could go. I feel that I am real close to getting to a 100 mhz. At 98 mhz bus, my computer boots into windows fine, but after a day it seems to lock up. I have 2 case fans - 1 blowing air in, another on the back as an exhaust - sucking air out. I have 2 globalwin fop32 fans on the cpu's. Do I need thermal grease? Motherboard monitor reports cpu temperature at 45 degrees C, not sure if thats a little too high or not. Also, my voltage is set to 2.2 V. Is 2.3 risky? Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

I'm running that same setup. & yes you should always use thermal grease (Heatsync compound). Very much needed when overclocking CPU's. :)

ya, if a case fan got you 1mhz, thearmal grease should get you a few more. i'd spring for artic silver if your that close to instablity, well id spring for artic siver anyway though:)
puting beefier fans on the heat-sinks could help too.

I thought about beefier fans, but anything bigger than what I got probably wont fit. Its real close to the caps as it is now. Not sure if I want to modify 2 golden orbs to make them fit. Going to try for the artic silver. Thanks for your help.

putting a small 486 fan on the chipset heatsink has done wonders for others. It did for the guys at Arstechnica....I'd give that a whirl too.

All I used was "high Temp axle grease" from Auto zone. :) Got like a pint for $2 :)
Honest, my BP6 & celeron's @550+ use AutoZone high temp. axle grease :)

Running NT 4.0 & crunching Seti WU's like mad for Team Anandtech!!
