trying to oc a celery 333

finally found a diagram online of this board FIC vb-601
333 mhz
pcb v 1.3
shows mb jumper positions for 66 mhz and 100 mhz so tried setting for 100mhz on jumpers
going into the bios show options for cpu of 66mhz 75mhz 83 mhz and default which auto detects cpu
at 75 it jumps it up to 375mhz from the original 333mhz on post and after about 10 minutes cpu temp is showing about 36 celcius. added a couple more small fans as it only had cpu fan.

at 83 mhz in bios bumps it up to 416 mhz on post have not monitered temps or checked for stability yet.


any suggestions or cautions appreciated

well its been running stable at 375mhz for an hour now in linux under a load it seems to have not exceeded 37 C
Do I dare try for 416Mhz.....machine was given to me just trying to git a little more gitup and go out of it.

lol, i dunno. like i said its linux not windows.

not much response here...ok seems to be stable at 375 bumping it up to 416mhz

Don't know what you're using for loading CPU, but Prime95 is available for Linux.

cool didn't know that.....you figure 50 C is a good no exceed limit for these old celerons?

More like 65 for your capper at load. I generally try to keep an overclock load temp at about 80% of the rated max temp.

Back then, the PCI and AGP buses weren't locked. So by upping the FSB to 75 or 83MHz, you're overclocking the PCI bus. This may allow for data corruption as your HDDs are connected through this bus. Once you get to 100MHz FSB, you're running at standard PCI speeds.

haven't noticed any data corruption yet, seems to be running at about 42 C now
