OK.. the green light is on on both NIC cards.. the cable color is red, green, blue, orange on one.. and red, orange blue and green on the other.. (i think).. both computers have Client for Microsoft Network, Client for Family logon, IPX/SPX, NetBeui, Tcp/Ip, and File & Printer sharing installed.. They are both sen ton workgroup: WORKGROUP, and are both set on Client for Microsoft network for primary network logon. ... The first IP address is 192.168.0.1 and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, the second IP address is 192.168.0.2 and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.... when i try to ping.. nothing happens.. did i miss something???

I would use 10.1.1.2 and 10.1.1.3 for the workstations and try setting up a gateway of 10.1.1.20 on both.

Maybe just try to narrow it down a bit, I would lose netbeui and ipx and just try tcp/ip, your ip addresses and masks seem fine.

Can you even:
ping localhost
ping 127.0.0.1
?

Do you see the proper setup when you check winipcfg?

when i ping local host everything is fine.. when i check winipcfg PPP adapter comes up... Adapter Addy is 44-45-53-54-00-00 and ip addy is 63.26.12.201 subnet mask is 255.0.0.0 and default gateway is 63.26.12.201.. when i click over to my ethernet adapter under winipcfg i get the ip addy and subnet mask which i set.. 192.168.0.1 and 255.255.255.0.. does that seem right?

Are you pinging a name or an ip address x.x.x.x? Do you have DNS turned off... since there is no domain name servers?
