Just a computer company. Repairs, WiFi setups, etc. Right now my only "employee" is my roommate. I get a job or 2 a week, and send him out to do it.
Def not enough to live on, but its good extra income. Working on advertising now. mmtech(sp) just made some nice business cards for me :awe:

Not sure what type of experience you have in IT, but I think Dish Network is a big employer out there, from what I've heard. I'd love to live in Ft. Collins, personally...I was out there for a weekend last month and I fell in love.

I'm pining for a job at a hospital out there. I have a sister that works there, which is part of the reason I want to move to Denver. I submitted my resume/cover letter this weekend for the position, thinking about giving a follow-up call today or tomorrow.

My wife and I visited Denver a couple months back and really fell in love with the area. If a job opportunity came along with a large pay increase, I would be willing to uproot my family and move down there.
In the meantime, it remains one of many options we're considering moving to once our kids are grown up and out of the house.

Good luck, Denver is a nice city, my company has an office out there. When I get older and tired of moving around and if I'm still with the company, I'd like to go full time either there or Minneapolis

I think once I get some money saved up and my g/f has some work experience under her belt, we're going to head out that way. Probably will be at least five more years...

I had a good friend move out here last year and he thought he had it made when he got a job with Cisco, but he got downsized and now he's scrambling with hundreds of other applicants who have identical resumes.
There are more upsides than downsides to the Denver market, but the people who are happiest are those who transferred here and sold their old house and bought a better one here for less money. The people who move here with no job when they get here find that high end salaries are lower than where they came from and low end jobs are snapped up by minimum wage workers who speak two languages.
If the OP has cash saved up and is ready for anything than make the move. You will have plenty of Chicago transplants already here and older parts of the city actually will remind you of home.

That's funny, I left the Denver suburbs to get closer to your agrea. Northern IN but still close.
Guess you need to go over there to balance it all out. Houses are a lot more expensive out there though... so be prepared. If you live IN chicago it won't be too different I guess. Gas is also cheaper because the octane ratings are 85,87,89 due to the difference in atmospheric pressure and oxygen.
