I think this program sucks, I'm trying to publish it and it is stuck at 25%.... what a POS

anyone have a recommendation for a wmv video editing software for beginners??

I just need something that can take a full video, chop it up to clips, move the clips around, add title/credit, have transitions between clips.

What is your free space? The only time I have heard the like is with render space full. If this is Vista and you are going to DVD, you probabaly need about 8-12MB free for an hour (just a guess).

i have 13 gigs for free space on my vista machine. the original video is about 21 meg.

it moved pretty fast in the beginning saying something like 10 minutes left.... then it hits 25% and the time started to increase, and the % stopped moving. i killed the program when it says 320 minutes left.

and i'm reading about other video editing software... i might give sony vegas a try... does it contain rootkit that sony is famous for?

No, the rootkit was only on music CDs.

And how long did you wait? Let it run an hour if you haven't and see if it gets further. Or, add a small change to it and try again (that would force a bad effect render to rerender).

Now that it is not time to run out the door to meet my carpool...

Look for a couple cuts around the 1/4 way through and redo them (delete the effect and reinsert it). It may just be a render of an effect that is bad. That sometimes happens on rare instances with many editors.

As for changing to Vegas, you would probably like it as it gives you more degrees of freedom on what you can do. I used to use Pinnacle Studio myself, but I now really only use its big brother, Liquid (Liquid is to Studio as Vegas is to Vegas Movie). Adobe and Ulead aren't not a bad choice either. Vegas, Studio, and Ulead's editor now support AVCHD IIRC and I know Vegas Movie and Studio can do MPEG-2 native editing (I suspect Ulead does and Premiere Elements is usually 1 step behind).
