On a new AMD 1800+ XP, Asus nForce mother board..

During the install it will always give a memory dump error and crash the system..

We tried putting on Windows 98 and that worked fine but trying to put on XP will crash the system..

Any suggestions?

You might want to try loosening your memory timings. Memory running faster than rated speed is the most common cause of blue screens during Windows installs.

What type of settings should I look for?

I took the memory suggestions and tried a different stick of RAM in the machine..

It loaded up fine...

Maybe the memory is bad?
