Trying to install Windows and its messing up

I'm having trouble installing windows again, it said Windows needed to repair so i did that and when it was copying files it got to 49% and just turned off. Then i was just installing a fresh copy and did the same thing at about 40 - 50 % and just turned off, and i don't know why
Its a laptop. Dell 2.4 P4 256 Mb

Have a disk utility? Do a low level format instead of a "quick" format and see if that helps.. Bad ram has caused my installions to goy haywire as well!

Run memtest 86.

There is no any other error message??? Please check the CD first. It might be corrupted too.
