Trying to install Win 10 on an old computer

I am trying to get Win 10 Beta to install on an old computer with and ASUS P5Q motherboard. I tried booting off USB but it won't do that. I copied the ISO to a DVD and it still won't boot. Does anyone have any suggestions?

When you say "copied", do you mean you copied the iso file to the DVD, or that you burned the iso file to the DVD ?
If you burned it, then selected the DVD as a boot device from BIOS, what error did you see ?

Simple things first. Did you go into the BIOS and change the boot order to dvd or usb? What program did you use to burn the ISO to a dvd? What program did you use to make the usb stick bootable?

See the specs on my system in my sig, I've had no issues booting with USB or from a DVD to install Win 10. Must be one of the other things that previous replies mentioned. What processor are you using in that board?

I don't think the older BIOS was able to boot from a USB device. However, the first time I tried it, I did not have a bootable DVD. I just copied it to a DVD. I used the windows imaging tool and it worked. I did get it to work using a properly imaged DVD. I think it is an E6400 processor and it seemed to work fine with that. The BIOS did not have USB drive as one of the boot options.

P45 chipsets are pretty old and predate EFI pretty much. Yuck...

Regardless, make sure you set boot order to prefer DVD first. The built in Windows burning utility should work fine, FWIW.
