MY PC has a 40gig hd which was partitioned into a c, d,e,f,g drive. I used partition magic to allocate free space and make a new partition which i created as a ext2 linux partition. I popped the redhat 7.2 cd, and when i get to the part of manually formatting with druid i'm not sure what to do....
first, i add a root partition and it then says i need a swap partition...question is...where do i add the swap partition to? I was under the impression that when you created the root it would allow me to specify the size of the root partition but it defaults to the size of the new partition i created which is 5gigs and i couldn't tell it how big i wanted it. So b/c of that now i don't know what to do...also, i was reading the online manual and it says i need a boot partition in the first 1023 cylinder?? what does that mean>???...
man, any help, tips appreciated b/c i don't want to kill my win2k on the c drive...

Either stop using crap like partition magic to make the partitions for you (instead of just making free space) or delete the partition in disk druid and make a smaller partition. When I used it a few years ago, it wasnt tough.

I don't think that 1023 cylinder limitation is there anymore with the newer LILO and plus by default it uses GRUB anyway which doesn't have that limitation. Delete your partitions in disk druid and just recreate them like n0cmonkey said.
