I'm trying to install another WD Raptor 74gb HD into my computer, I'm not trying to set it up in Raid 0 or anything, just want to use it as a separate drive. However, after plugging in the SATA and power cables, on reboot I get this error that says "reboot and select proper boot device, or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key."

I'm not even able to enter BIOS, i know my mobo doesn't have one of those BIOS jumpers, and previously I was able to get into BIOS easily. Even after I removed the new raptor, I wasn't able to get into BIOS. I dunno, am i being stupid? Is there some really simple solution to all this. I was just hoping to pop the raptor in, and format it from windows, but I'm not even able to select a boot device, and I can't get into windows unless i remove the drive completely.

ASUS K8V SE Deluxe
2x WD Raptors 74gb
128mb Radeon 9800pro
1.5gb corsair pc3200 ram

I'd appreciate any help ya'll could give me, cause I couldn't be any more clueless.

Are you putting the raptor on the same controller as the first drive? If you have two different sata (raid) controllers try putting the second raptor on the other controller. For some reason it sounds like the computer thought it was going to be a host OS drive instead of an add-on drive. There should be a cmos switch on the motherboard for you to reset. Do you have your motherboard manual? Before installing the drive go into the bios and make sure the second controller is active (or make sure the second channel of the SATA controller is active on your primary SATA controller).
