Restart your computer and then close ALL open programs (inlcuding AOL Instant Messenger) and try the install again before opening any applications at all.

You have some corrupted Installshield files on your system. Very easy fix. Read here:

KB967: Error: InstallShield error code -6001 during setup.

SUMMARY:
During installation of a program, you may receive an InstallShield error that returns an error code '-6001'.

SOLUTION:
This InstallShield error indicates a corrupt verison of InstallShield is installed on your computer. To correct this issue, simply delete the following folder from your computer and attempt to run the installer again:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime\0701

If this fails to correct the problem, we recommend you RENAME (not delete) the entire C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\RunTime folder and try again. You may rename the folder to anything you like, but we recommend something similar to "RunTimeOld".

Note: If you don't have sub-folder 0701 and it's a higher number, for example, delete that folder. For example, if you have folder 0901 vs. 0701, delete folder 0901 and try again. If you keep getting the error, RENAME the RunTime folder itself.

deleting that folder worked.

i googled it and it came up with un related items

C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime\0701
