I put a new HDD in my old desktop and reinstalled a clean install of XP. Now I'm trying to install the driver for the 2Wire 802.11G USB adapter, and for the life of me I cannot get the computer to recognize the driver. I don't have the original install CD, I've downloaded the driver zip file from 2Wire.

I've been trying to use the New Hardware Wizard, but even when I point it right to the 2Wire file... nothing. :'(

It has XP SP2 from the install disk... and I can't update to SP3 until I get the internet working; and, yes, I installed the drivers as downloaded from the Dell website. Everything is working fine, and the computer sees the device, it just won't take the driver.

You can download and burn a copy of XP SP3 to a cd and install it that way. I have both SP2 and 3 on CD's for just that purpose.
