Trying to hook my RokuHD up to my Denon AVR 1908

So, I tried using component cables, but the component inputs aren't reassignable.

Denon 1908 only has 2 HDMI inputs (http://www.usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/3635.asp):

#1 is Blu Ray
#2 is Cable Box (SA 4250HDC - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/col...ps8620/product_data_sheet0900aecd806c5c31.pdf)

So, I reassigned HDMI #2 to VCR, and hooked the Roku up to it. Success!

But then I had to find another way to hookup my cable box. So I used component to the component In jacks, and RAC for sound. I got sound, but no picture.

I tried a different set of component cables. I tried power cycling the cable box. I tried finding a video output setting on the cable box.

So far, nada.

I really want the Roku HD as part of that home theater setup, so I need to find a way to get an HD picture from the SA 4250HDC to the Denon AVR. Any ideas? Shouldn't my Denon be able to convert that component signal to digital to output to my TV via HDMI? (I'm running everything to my TV via HDMI).

I called Denon, but literally ran out of time. The support guy said he had to go because I kept him 15 minutes passed their closing time.

Fire that tech :p

Looks like the 1908 does not do component to HDMI conversion for video.
http://www.usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/3635.asp

To use 3 video sources, you'll need to do one of the following
1. Get an external HDMI switch
2. Connect one of the video sources straight to the TV with HDMI if your TV has multiple HDMI inputs (and use the receiver for just audio on that source)
3. Connect one source with Component and then hook the Component Out from the receiver to the Component In on the TV.

Options 2 and 3 will require you to switch inputs on the TV to make it work :(

Option 1 may work without extra button pressing if you get an HDMI switch with auto-sensing / switching.

Thanks for the advice. Of those options, #1 is the only one I want to mess with. I'll try finding one of those auto sensing switches. Never looked for one before. Hope I don't experience sticker shock. [edit]on 2nd thought, I'm just gonna run the roku to HDMI #2 on the TV and use the receiver for sound. The autodetect switch wont really work cause the roku is on 24/7.

BTW, after I posted, I was just messing around with the hookups, and I plugged the Roku into HDMI#2 without reassigning it. Worked fine. Makes me wanna trade up on my AVR for one with more HDMI inputs.

monoprice sells them for pretty cheap IDK if they auto swap however. some are push button and some have remotes. they might have an auto one i haven't looked that close
