Well after a few months of not bothering to try and get the USB ports on a friends computer that I built for her, I'm gonna give it another shot.

I've got the latest bios (KT7-3r03), the latest 4-in-1 drivers (4.32v), the latest HighPoint Drivers (1.2.0612) and the latest USB Filter (1.08).

Abit says to uninstall the 4-in-1's before installing this bios update. Then re-installing the latest version again after the flash. Abit also says to update the HighPoint Drivers before I flash the bios.

I am using WinME on this particular system.

Would I be safe in assuming these are the correct steps?:

1. Update HighPoint drivers (there are no drives connected to the raid slots)

2. Uninstall 4-in-1 (and USB Filter)

3. Flash Bios

4. Re-install 4-in-1

At this point I've heard that the USB Filter should NOT be installed in WinME. Should I install it?

I'm using 98SE, and the 4in1's, are not consequential to the successful operation of your USB's, make sure you have the Window updates on USB drivers. Make sure you have enough power in the system to power them, they need 500Ma.

I think it's hopeless. You must buy a separate usb card. I was never able to get it working right.

I have a KT7-R and have NO problems. When you plug in a device does it get power? are you using the ports on the board or the extra's accessed via the most likely supplied cable? (Mine work either way) I know it's a dumb question, but USB is enabled in the BIOS? Do you have an IRQ assigned to them? Under device manager, are they listed?

I've got the KT7A-Raid also, works flawlessly with my EM500. Also USB used to work flawlessly on my MSI K7T Pro 2a before it croaked. I have never had to install anything special to get it to work on either one, in fact I didn't even change anything when I swapped mobo's.

Try disabling all your unused devices, such as serial ports and such, that might help.
