Trying to get pictures from my iPod Touch to my PC

You can add pics from there, not take copy to your PC. At least not that I can figure out.

When I plug in my iPhone - and yes, I know, you are asking about the Touch, but I don't have a Touch 🙂 - it acts like a USB drive. I can see the pictures just by clicking on the drive letter that Windows assigns it. Usually E:\ If I click on that drive, I can see the pictures just like as if I'd inserted an SD card into my card reader.

But I thought the touch didn't have a camera...? How did you get a picture onto it if not through iTunes? Are you talking screenshots? If I google a bit, it looks like the only way to get screenshots off of the Touch is to email them. Or you could jailbreak the Touch and then just browse through the files with something like Windows Explorer and pull the screenshots/photos off that way.

You can add pictures via iTunes, by syncing it with your My Pictures folder in the Documents. The Touch doesnt act like a USB driver sadly. As far as I can tell, there isnt any way to get pictures from the Touch, to the PC. So annoying.

Love the ipods, hate the software/proprietaryness of them.

i dont see any way on the TOUCH to take pics..

despite it not having a camera, there are ways to get pics on the touch. hence, he would like a way to get them off as well. not too hard to comprehend there, sparky. all 3 of my kids have itouch, i know ive gotten pics on and off of them but cant remember how. its been a while, ill try to remember to look into it when i get home.

the touch will come up as a USB drive, but all you can pull off is screen shots you've taken. Copying the pictures off I believe requires your touch to be jailbroken. I ftp in and yank pics and stuff off. There might be a way besides that but I haven't figured it out.

lol what? the touch doesnt' come up as a USB drive. That was the older iPods. Apple has since killed this so you can't just copy stuff easily like a USB drive.

If you take a screen shot with a Touch (home button + power button) it certainly does. When I plug my Touch in it comes up as a USB drive, when I go into it in explorer it shows a DCIM folder and in it is any snapshots I've taken. I can copy the pics to my PC, and I can xfer pics back directly too. I haven't tried the exact same format, but I would imagine if you copied a PNG with the same dementions it would show up in your photos under "Saved Photos" in your photo section.

And I haven't tried this either, but since I can copy pics back, I don't see why I couldn't copy any files I wanted.

I'm actually about to go test this, BRB with my results.

*EDIT* maybe the fixed it in the 2.2.1 update, I can't copy files to it anymore, but it's still coming up and any screen shots and files from iO (synth) are copyable to my PC. I am sure when I was 2.0 I was able to copy pictures to that folder, sucks they corrected this 🙁
