Trying to get my touch pro 3 apps working with my work email/calendar account...

So, I work for a college that uses exchange for outlook & mobile devices, and outlook 365 for webmail. My boss got a grant for our department to buy surface pro 3s. Our IT guys set up office 2013 for it using the exchange server, but it looks like the tablet Mail, Calendar, Onedrive, and OneNote apps don't work. Our outlook 365 webmail uses our college's url, not MSN as the email domaine, so the apps are telling me bad account. They only accept microsoft domaines, it looks like. Is there another way to set the apps up? Our IT department is pretty useless, so is probably a faster forum than going to them, lol.
