Trying to get legit licensing

Hi all,

I was looking for some input from everyone on this licensing issue I've got. I just acquired a new customer who is running unlicensed software at his company. In my showing him the ramifications of such use if he gets caught for what ever reason, he has given the order to get it all legit. It looks like someone installed some copies of WinXP Pro Corp on his network. My question is, If I go and order some copies of Win XP Pro OEM online, do I have to reinstall all of the affected workstations or will just purchasing the license be enough to cover him? He has alot of custom apps that I would like to avoid reinstalling, if possible.

Thanks!

NOC,

I know about switching the key utility but if they were installs from a Corp CD would this work? I though that OEM keys would be different? I posted this here because I figured it would be the best place to post this type of question, sorry bout that. Would it have been better off in OS or Software?

Thanks.

You're specifically talking about an OS, so I'm thinking it would go in OS. There are a number of people that handle that stuff on a daily basis that post there (and there might be here too, I don't know).

The first step of the process is to _backup_ everything. ;)
If you have a machine you can test it with, give it a shot. I think the key switching thing gets around any incompatibilities between OEM and retail cd keys, but I've never tried it or done any research into it.

You could leave everything how it is, but with the penalties for piracy, do you want to take the chance? ;)
