I know very little about the subtleties of networking, so whoever replies will have to be patient(and maybe subscribe as I keep asking questions, hehe). Ok, basically, we finally got service and we plugged the DSL modem directly into her computer and used the PPPoE that Earthlink gave us and all was good, she enter the realm of broadband once again(56K suxors!). However, we need her roommate to use it too so we have the Netgear RT314 she bought a while back of a Hotdeal so we were going to use this to route the DSL modem to their PCs. However, I plugged her computer and the DSL modem into the router and the DSL modem seemed happy and the router did too. However, I believe I'm suppose to use IP 192.168.0.1 to log into the router.
Now, my question is did the PPPoE stuff change how she looks at Ethernet protocols so that 192.168.0.1 can't be logged into? Should I uninstall all of the PPPoE software to ge things to work again? I know she could log into the router before because I was playing around with the router before. Also, if anyone knows what I should put into the router to setup for PPPoE that would be helpful too. i'm going to check out dslreports.com to see if they have any information, but I figured the smartest people are on AT forums
Thank you,
Gariig
