Trying to get C&C 3 to play on my LAN

I Googled the shat out of this, here's the run down: 2 PC's both with C&C 3 Tiberium Wars with the latest patch. Here is what I've tried

disabled the firewall on both - can ping back and forth
manually put IP/DNS info in the network settings.
Tried Himanchi(sp?)
disabled Himachi and any other non Network card entries in my network settings.

No matter what I do I can't get either PC to see either as a server. Network works fine beyond that, I can x-fer files back and forth with no issues. One PC is XP the other is Win 7 RC. Suggestions???

I have played it over Hamachi many times and it works fine, although the systems were all on XP. The main thing that comes to mind is some firewall or port forwarding issue, but you say you have looked into that so I don't know.

This game has a very strange bug on Hamachi where people get dropped out of the game setup screen if they don't send messages often enough. So everyone has to spam the chat window while the host is setting up the game.

I installed Himachi on both systems, and when I click on the name on either it pings the other computer fine. Maybe I should try setting up a different port for it to play on, I noticed when I tried putting any port # into the config when I'd go back it'd show up blank again.

Maybe it's just the Win7 system that isn't working?
