Hi there,

The last time I was involved in building a computer was about 20 years ago. I recently wanted to get back into building PCs so to practice and learn about all the new hardware, cables, etc.. I bought a used PC from a friend.

First dumb question:

1.

This appears to be for mounting HDDs, correct?

But in order to mount an SSD into this thing I would need a mounting bracket for the SSD that fits in this frame, correct?

In case it helps, the case is a Xigmatek Elysium.

Hey lefthands,

Looks like it, but always better to include a couple angles to be sure. Care to include a picture(s) of the system you got?

Thanks for the feedback all.

Thanks for the tip with mounting the SSD into the 3.5" bays with the screws, makes sense actually.

And yes the case is a total beast, much larger than I thought it would be, doesn't even fit properly under my desk, first project will be to put it all inside a smaller case.

I have attached some photos, granted some of it is dated hardware, but enough to practice on. The second project will be to upgrade mobo, cpu and ram to something more modern/recent.
