Trying to get a home network going..

So, here's the setup. We have cable internet. The cable modem goes into the router, and the main computer is wired to the router, while the second computer is wirelessly connected. Main computer is running Windows XP, wireless computer is running Windows 98SE.

Both computers see each other. Computer 2 can copy files from computer 1. Computer 1 sees computer 2, but cannot connect/see the shared folders.

Why can't I get the main computer to connect to the other?

Thanks. 🙂

Yippie! I got it to work 🙂

JackMDS's link mentioned firewalls, so I added a rule to allow 192.168.x.x traffic, and it works like a charm! 🙂

Glad that it is working.

The purpose of the word "Slowly" in my post is for occasions like this. Many people read the info and expect some High Tech issue that they think is impeding their state of the art Gizmos, ending up missing the minute simple detail that would bail them out.
