I'm lookin for an all in one printer under 200 that i can use to print on cd/dvds, print photos, scan, copy, print documents. Can somebody recommend me a good one? Whats a good brand? I found one, its an Epson Stylus RX580 but the price is like 230. I'd like something under 200 but if theres nothing available at that price with what i want then i will pay a little more.

A Epson R200/220/300/320/340/360 and a cheap Epson Photo scanner? I got a Epson R340 printer for $71 shipped and a Epson Photo Scanner for $35 shipped in the clearance section at epson.com

Wife uses an Epson R320 that we got new for $30 after a rebate and a coupon. Does pretty good at photos and optical media. She uses an Agfa scanner she has had for years that I bought at an online auction cheaply.

As soon as you specify printing on cd's, you are pretty well stuck with an Epson as the only USA printer that offers that as a factory option. And the downsides of Epsons lie in the area of printhead clogging and long term reliability.

Something like a Canon ip4200 offers better long term reliability and less printhead clogging. And do it your self modifications can convert those to cd printing---see various threads on steves digicams and the nifty stuff forums.

As Lemon law mentioned, the downside of Epson printers include printhead clogging and long term reliability. I have been through 3 epson models now. Currently on the 6600 something. (CX6600?). First two had such a bad printhead clogging problem Best Buy just replaced it. Warranties are underrated.

The printers are great otherwise. If I could hold onto a working one for more than a year that would be something new.

Canons are pretty nice. My room mate has one and his works flawlessly until it runs out of ink. I thought about ditching the Epson for a canon. My Epson is loaded with a lot more features though.

I had my R200 for 3 years, except for the time it was new it had OEM ink go through it, but after that its been the cheapest I could get my hands on and it has NEVER clogged on me one time. I just got a Epson R340 for a early Christmas present from my wife and plan on using the same ink and treating it the same way as my older one. I paid $55 for the R200 3 years ago and I think I got my $55 worth out of it ;) I paid $71 for the R340 and Im sure I will get many years out of it, and if I only get one year I only paid $71 for it.

Damn. I thought Epson was a quality brand. Now ya'll got me thinkin the printer i just got is going to be problems. I went with the RX580. It was 160 shipped and its got pretty much everything i want. I don't have much room for a printer and scanner and what not so i wanted everything in one. Mostly what i'll be using it for is printing on cds, documents, and making copies. Probably will not be printing very many photos. Hopefully i don't have problems.

Clogged ink jet heads can often be fixed by the use of an ammonia-based liquid cleaner, such as Windex.
Keep some empty ink cartridges; re-fill (using a syringe) with Windex. Then run the head cleaning utility a few times.
