There used to be a video on YouTube of Simon Rattle conducting the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in Mahler's 2nd Symphony. It was his final performance with that orchestra. One of the soloists was Anne Sofie van Otter. I believe it was in 1998 (but i'm not sure, could be wrong).

YouTube took the video down for infringement, but I cannot find the video anywhere else. I'd be perfectly willing to purchase the DVD (it's a great performance), but no such DVD seems to exist. Any ideas of where else to look?

There are indeed other performances of this work out there with this conductor, but it's not THIS performance...different soloists, different dates (yes, I'm particular about getting this particular video).

Usually if it gets pulled from youtube, that means there is another source. Otherwise there's no point pulling it. DVD would seem most plausible, unless they have it hosted on a specific website. Like Comedy Central and Adult Swim. Their videos won't be on youtube, but can definitely find videos on their website.

That's what I was searching for: the DVD. You're right-I figured it would be available somewhere if it got pulled. But if it is available, I can't find it. :(

Alone, nope it was 1998. And the YouTube link you posted-yes(!) that is the performance. However, I'm looking for the whole thing of course (the symphony's over an hour long).

I don't think there's a DVD of it. I could find you a CD, but that's not really what you're looking for.

Nope. As I said in the OP, there are multiple recordings "close" to that description, but not quite it. Different soloists, different performance.
