I'm upgrading my pc over the course of the month (I'll be purchasing a new part each week) and I have most of what I'm looking to get except the motherboard. I've looked at a lot of boards and read many reviews.

I'm planning on getting the Phenom II x4 955, and I'll be getting 2 GTX 460's, or at least, I'd like to. I'd rather not get an nForce board. Will the AMD 8xx series chipsets work with SLi?

If not, is the Asus Crosshair Extreme with the Lucid Hydra the way to go with this?

No, AMD 8XX chipsets only support Crossfire.

If you want to run 2 X GTX 460 in SLI then you will need an nForce 980A chipset based board of which there are only 2.

MSI NF980-G65

and

ASUS M4N98TD-EVO

and neither of these boards support SATA 6Gbps natively like the AMD 8XX do.

Pretty slim pickings.

This is why Intel boards can rule the roost since they support both SLI and Crossfire.
