Trying to find a mid-late 2000s PC game

Kind of an odd one, here. A game came out in 2003 for the PS2 called "Lifeline", where you guide a hotel waitress through a survival horror scenario using a microphone to give her commands.

I am extremely certain a game exactly like this (possibly a port) exists for PC - I can remember seeing it on the shelves at Circuit City before they closed, so it's from somewhere between 2007-2009. All I can really remember about it is that it had a brown-reddish box with a woman looking out through a security monitor. I would always pick it up thinking "Talking to the computer, that sounds like it wouldn't work very well." and not buying it. Now I just want to know the name for my own curiosity.

Can't for the life of me remember the name. Anybody have an ideas?

Do you remember the developer's/publisher's name? I checked about Lifeline and one thing is certain is that it wasn't a multi-platform release, it was developed for the PlayStation 2 only.

Probably not it. The PS2 version of manhunt did use the headset, however its purpose wasn't for voice commands; rather, it was so the main guy could talk directly into your ear, and the enemies could find you and kill you if they hear you yelp or scream.

Haha, that's an interesting gimmick.

Zenoth, no. I don't remember much more than the details I provided already.

Hasn't been anything that's suggested so far. Thanks anyway, but I guess this one's REALLY hard to find, or it doesn't exist and I made it all up.

Where's that guy who has eleventy billion PC games installed? I bet he has it. If it's real.

Damn, that is cool. Now I want to try that game lol.

Manhunt can be bought on Steam for $9.99. The PC version doesn't include microphone functionality, but as mentioned above, it's gimmicky anyway and not necessary to enjoy the game. In exchange the AI is actually smarter though. It's a very creepy game (you slip into the role of a man who's kidnapped and forced to be in a snuff film) and it's also very violent/gorey (not for weak stomachs), and extremely challenging. I say check it out.

Don't know if you meant me.

But ya, I have it, paid $30.

If you're the guy who has like 2500 PC games going all the way back to like 1990 installed on a Windows 7 x64 box, then yes. If not, then no. That guy also had a backpack avatar on the old forum.

No, I just happen to have games from before that and a large number.

So, the game I found was not the one you referred to?

That would be AdamK47 and his crazy number of installed (and all working) games. You should just PM him and ask him if he can check for one of his numerous original game boxes (I remember he said he still has most - although not all - of the boxes from those games) to see if he can find one that looks like the one you think of.

Or maybe like you said your memory is playing some tricks on you and you're remembering that game (or the cover of its box) in a way that wasn't exactly the way it really was, since it's been so many years ago. In any case, I hope that Commander Shepard will pay him a visit, that guy is a true collector (yes, pun intended).
