Trying to figure out new security software setup

Currently I am using the Mcafee software given to me free by comcast. I have a knowledge well enough to determine the difference between legit and non legit software. I am not one of those noobs who get viruses from limewire. Hell I can even remember the last time I even got a virus. However, I still use protection, just in case. My question is if I should keep using mcafee suite, or install AVG, and a free firewall? I feel like mcafee is a resource heavy.

I personally won't pay for an AV suite, when you can get free AV for home use that is just as good (or better in some cases). That being said, don't use AVG... give Avira Antivir a try, it's been on top for some years now. As far as a firewall goes, you shouldn't need anything beyond what comes with Windows. If you're using a router, you've got a hardware firewall built into that as well.

I personally use ESET NOD32 (www.eset.com) for virus protection and firewall. Usually for the VB100% tests, ESET ranks in the top. I used to use Kaspersky, but in terms of costs, ESET was slighly cheaper. As for McAfee, I stopped using them a long time ago. Their protection (in the wild viruses, etc.) isn't as good.
