Trying to extend the longevity of my cologne

I just got a bottle of Polo Blue and I LOVE the stuff. Apparently, the ladies love it too. However, the smell seems to wane after about 4 hours. The smell is still on me but it's very weak. After talking to a salesman at Macy's, I was given the suggestion of rubbing baby oil on my skin first and then apply the cologne. He claims the baby oil is suppose to accentuate the scent of the cologne and also helps maintain the longevity of the cologne on my body. My question is, is this guy for real?

What are some other bases that I can use to help extend the longevity of the cologne? I've heard of using body lotion but isn't body lotion scented (thus conflicting with the smell of the cologne in the first place?). Any opinions and ideas are welcome.
