I have a computer laptop with a bad CDROM drive in it. This laptop has Windows 2000 running on it. It caught a virus and the owner asked that I blow away the hard drive and install Windows XP SP2 to it. With a bad CDROM drive, I decided to use a boot disk, and go in and Deltree all unnecessary files and folders except for the HP directory (drivers) and the i386 directory. Once cleaned of all folders and files except for the two mentioned, I reran WINNT from the i386 directory and did a clean install of Windows 2000. Booted into Windows 2000, and used a USB thumb drive to place Windows XP SP2s i386 folder into the root drive. Unfortunatley my brain was on cruise control when asked if I would like to convert the partition to NTFS from FAT32 and selected Yes. Now I cannot edit the partition from a bootdisk environment. As I would like to take the next step, and be able to boot from a boot disk and delete all directories and files unneeded and begin installing Windows XP from the i386 directory placed in the root.

Anyone know what I could do from a bootdisk environment to delete the unecessary files and folders before begining another install from the i386 directory?
