If you are using a Windows machine then it's in <SoB home>\ReadMeNT.txt or <SoB home>\ReadMe9X.txt, where <SoB home> by default is \Program Files\SB.

If it's a Linux machine, then just create two separate directories and unzip into each.

No, that's not right. Each instance of the client should be working on a different k and n value. You need to run sobsvc from a Command Prompt window (w/ whatever flags you desire). You shouldn't click the startup icon, you should let the service start it (or manually restart the SoB service). Make sure there is nothing in your startup folder for SoB.

In short:

Firstly, run a single copy of the client and make sure all your options are present and correct. Make sure 'start on windows boot' is NOT ticked, then exit the client.

Open a command prompt from the accessories menu.

cd \
cd program files
cd sb

then type:

sobsvc -i
sobsvc -o

Close the command prompt.

Then start menu, run:
services.msc

Scroll down to Seventeen or Bust Service, right click and 'start'

Check the number of SB processes you have running in the task list, there should be four.

Note: on these settings, the clients will be invisible - if you'd like to be able to see the clients in your tray, use sobsvc -k.

This all assumes you're using 2K or XP.

Yep :)

However to make best use of HT you should replace -o with -o2 as per Allio's instructions

Basically, Allio has explained it pretty well :) However use -o2 instead of -o, and it will set it up as follows: 1 process assigned to CPU0 ("physical processor" of CPU1), 1 process assigned to CPU2 ("physical processor" of CPU2) and then 1 process which will float across CPU1 and CPU3 (the two "logical processors" on each)

So you will have Windows saying 75% CPU usage, with 3 sb clients at 25% each, but that is the most effective :)

The service installer gives the SoB windows custom titles, as it adds 'Client 1' and 'Client 2' etc. Untill the installer is updated, the title bars will keep saying 1.10, but you probably already have 1.2 :)

Check in your logs to see if it detected your cpu and enabled specific optimisations for it.
