Running XP Home on a Gateway P4. Formated my CD-RW. Selected my files using XP wizard. Get to the "Write these files to Cd" under CD writting tasks. When I click on that command it says. "There is no disc in the drive (E🙂. Please insert a cd into drive E:". What am I doing wrong. The cd is in there and formatted.. formatted it twice in the long and short version.. no help...😕

What did you format it with? What are you using to do the backup, what XP wizard is this? (I disabled XP's CD-burning capabilities).

I think what you may be running into is you're doing things that don't need to be done. You probably formatted the disc for packet-writing, which allows you to drag and drop files like a floppy disk. The XP wizard for copying files to a disc doesn't use packet-writing, it's just a standard CD-burning application that works based on sessions, like EZ CD Creator (which XP's app is based on). The "copy files to CD" looks for an unformatted, partially or full empty disc, not a disc formatted for packet-writing.
