trying to do 3 monitor setup...little help please

MrDudeMan

Lifer
i am getting a geforce2mx dual VGA. i got this one so i could still play some games on it...but anyways i want a tv tuner for my 3rd monitor so i can just watch TV on it the whole time...what card is the cheapest (as in no extra features, just TV in) and best for this

what card will go best with my system? it just needs to be able to get a tv in signal and a vga out to my monitor...thats all...

will i need to add any extra case cooling? i put in dual power supplies (a 230w englight and a 235w generic)

will that be enough power? i will use the 230w enlight to power the motherboard and thats all...i will use the other PSU to power my hdd, cpu fan, cd-roms, and case fans...

Hmm, not what you want to hear but:

If your third monitor has RGB in (some do), this may be an easier solution:
TV -> RGB

Edit: Actually, I think what they label as RGB, may be a VGA output, or an adapter cable - call and check

Otherwise, this could work:
All-in-wonder PCI

Not sure if the ATI card likes to work together with another card. Depends also on your operating system.

Or get a TV 😉

Also not what you want to hear...TV Tuners generally (i dont know of any that are different) dont like being 'secondary' monitors due to overlay issues, they need to be on the Primary monitor.

ok well....my friend has dual monitors with his randeon AIW 7500, and he can move his tv screen to a different monitor....

i have a geforce2 mx dual VGA and i want to get another card for my third monitor...do the tv tuner cards not have a vga out? i know the radeon does...but do other ones not? like the wonder ve or dv wonder? do they have tv in vga out?

What OS is your friend running ? The ATi software might have that licked, its defiantely _possible_ to do it, since M$ even have mutimonitor capable DVD player in the DX8 SDk, hehe....i really shouldnt comment much more thoguh since i dont have a TV card myself (thoguhi do run dual monitors...), but its my understanding TV can be a bit of a pain in a multimonitor environment...

Try having a read round the forums at www.realtimesoft.com , home of Ultramon, a rather nice lil multi-mon tool....whcih happens to do a lol of the things nView suddenly can, but has been around much longer....hmmmm...hehe 😛

can i put the tv tuner on a seconday monitor?

i know some people said it doesnt work, and i believe you...but is there any way possible i can pull that off?

I have dual displays using a GF2MX and an ATI Xpert 98. I have an ATI TV Wonder that can display on either screen at any time.
