Trying to decide - replace carpet or couch first?

The carpet in my house is ~7 years old builder's grade carpet. There are a few small stains here and there - nothing major though.. mainly just 'foot traffic' wear spots. I had it professionally cleaned when I bought the house (a little over a year ago) which helped a lot, but it's still worn out.

My couch is in about the exact same condition (plain jane off-white sectional L couch..)

I don't want to replace both at the same time - which would you replace first? I'm not selling the house for a couple of years at least, so "resale factor" of the floor shouldn't come into play..

i'd say go with couch 1st as thats probably what would have a more noticeable affect - comfort. unless you don't use the couch, well, i doubt it really makes a difference.

personally, i'd just do a new couch and replace the carpet before you sell. or couch and give a carpet discount when you sell the house. it all just depends if you can live with shoddy carpet.

My tv is above the fireplace - I'd probably benefit most from a decent reclining sofa. However, the carpet is in slightly worse shape than my current sofa

Replace the carpet/flooring (Poll makes it look like you want wood floor) Either way it'd be a better return for the investment if/when you do sale. Unless you plan on throwing in the couch if you sale the place.....
