Trying to decide on a UPS

I like the APC Back-UPS office, but can't really decide between the 350 and the 500.

I can get them for $70 vs. $100 respectively.

I'm not entirely sure these are the best choice for me, but they are within my price range (don't wnat to spend more than $100).
My system:
PIII450
Quantum Atlas 10K (ultra2 LVD)
Plextor 40MAX
Plexwriter 820
300W power supply
17" monitor

I want a UPS because about once or twice a month we have power flickers here, just barely long enough to kill my computer and reset all the digital clocks. I don't need much uptime on the battery, and I don't need software to automatically turn it off.

So what do you guys think
 
I would get PK electronics Blackout Buster. I bought it about 5 months ago and it has saved my arse numerous times. Actually just last night we were having brownouts and within a nanosecond it switched to battery power. I bought it at www.dartek.com for $100 bucks but i just noticed it is only $69 bucks now!! Sir Fred, if you go to APC.com they have a UPS selector on the first page. Answer some questions and it displays three products that will work for you.
 
I would spend the extra $30 on the 500. My system is somewhat close to yours and it uses 325VA. 500 would be more than enough (which is what you should have). BTW, I highly recommend ONLY APC.
 
I agree get APC. I bought a Belkin 525VA to replace my APC 400. First two power hiccups and my computer cuts off both times. So out it went, I bought a nice APC 700 Smart-ups with new batteries on E-Bay for 135.00. This one is unit is sweet. APC also sells refurbs on their site.
 
So far, so good. My Belkin has saved my butt quite a few times. It is a 525VA serial port unit. As well though, I would be on the opposite side of the spectrum, because two of the APC units I have had were duds. One was bad because of a controller circuit and the other had a bad battery out of the box!!!
 
Thanks guys, I decided to go with the APC Back-UPS Office 500. Besides a little trouble getting powerchute plus to work properly, it seems to be working well. And it's already saved me from one power hiccup. I think the power company hates my school 🙂

thEnEuRoMancER is right. One day I was playing with a HP Laser Jet and every time I turned it on my UPS reported a &quot;small momentary spike&quot;. Good thing I didn't plug it into the UPS.
