Trying to decide between monitor or tv for xbox one and cable.

Hi, I was wondering which is the best option out of these televisions and monitors for gaming on the Xbox one and watching cable. I'm leaning towards a computer monitor because of the lower lag and better response times for gaming, compared to tvs. What would I need to connect speakers to the monitor to work with xbox and cable?

Most of the links didn't work for me.

For a monitor you'd want to go source-->AVR/Soundbar/Computer Speakers-->Monitor. Personally I don't think it's worth it to use a monitor for an Xbox and Cable. Xbox games don't really require super low input lag. (Racing games are the only ones where I think you'd really feel the difference. First person shooters, well, using a controller instead of a mouse/keyboard is killing you way more than input lag.) If it's still an issue for you I'm pretty sure Sony TV's all have low lag settings for gaming (due to the PS3/PS4). I'm not very knowledgeable on lag on TVs anymore, because I don't do much gaming on consoles that require low input lag.

Monitors you're going to pay a lot more money for the screen size and have a more complicated connection route for your sound.

NEC has great image quality but they are notorious on the monitor side for having very high levels of input lag.

I'd probably just get a Sony LCD TV and call it a day. If you get lucky and you can find a recent Samsung or Panasonic plasma I'd take that.

All links are broken.
I really don't think response time is huge deal on xbox unless you're playing at the highest of levels. Majority of users will be using a HDTV you'll be on an even playing field with 99% of the player base.

Unless you're playing a fighting game like Street fighter I wouldn't say it's worth it at all. It's far more fun to have a large immersive screen.

You can get pretty close to low input lag + large screen with Vizio p series though.

Sorry for the broken links here are my narrowed down choices. I would like to stick with a monitor because I play a lot of street fighter and fps games so I can notice high input lag. The lowest input lag I found for a tv was a sony with 23ms, which is still too high. Im wondering how I would go about the sound situation for these monitors. One of them have speakers built in but im not sure how good the sound is. If I were to buy separate speakers I would like to control them remotely and am not sure how I could do that, maybe blue tooth or an av receiver?

I still wouldn't touch the NEC. I'm sure you're being lured by the g2g response times, but that's NOT a measure of input lag. That's a better measure of how much blur there will be when there's a lot of motion on the screen. It's also a part of how input lag is measured, but, if you ask me, it's often the "smaller" component as compared to processing lag.

Really, as far as I've looked, outside of plasma a sony tv is going to have the lowest lag of any tv's.

As for monitors, that Samsung monitor will not have the lowest lag. The tuner and the extra bells and whistles will likely increase the input lag. Go to tftcentral and look for monitors with low lag. Or you could just get a TN 120 Hz monitor with somewhat poorer color/contrast picture quality and get almost no lag whatsoever.

Many Sony TVs have lag in the teens. I don't think it is humanly possible to tell a difference between like 13ms and 8ms.

If you're competitively playing street fighter they're doing things where you're working down to individual frames.

As for FPS... if you're playing an FPS on console input lag below 50 ms isn't bad.

Again though if you're not playing at a very competitive level, it's pretty pointless.

I mean it's up to the OP though but this is a 2 screen solution to me. Xbox One on a low input small screen and cable on a large screen. But I personally would never watch cable on a small screen.

Pretty much agree with this at this point.
