Trying to choose a case

My bad I was talking about the quietness Centurion 5 not the P180. The Seasonic cables won't have any problems in that one.

Needs:
good cooling for a computer with these parts:
3800X2 no OC
1 or 2 HDD
dvd burner
floppy drive mabe..
78000GT
mobo...>_< Hard to pick one
2GB of ram

Any suggestions for my needs? Fan suggestions or else suggestions on cases or other cases?
 
You've been spending a lot of time agonizing over a case, but since you're not OCing, you're going to do fine with cooling (and I've OCd everything from a Pentium 166 to a 3200+ in all types of cases) in just about any of the new cases you're looking at. You have the right size in mind for your new rig. Pick 1 with the features you want, door/no door, window/side blowhole, drive rails, front panel ports, etc. You'll find those things more important, imho, as a new builder. As far as quality, when you pay more you'll get better materials, rounded/rolled edges inside, more features, etc. Pick one you like looking at, 'cause that's what you'll be doing for a long time!

Noise can be a major issue, but unless you want silent or near silent, spend some money on GOOD FANS and speed controls. The cheapo fans that come with most inexpensive cases add a ton of noise to the machine - and they're the ones that are right on the outside, buzzing away all the time. You'll use the stock HSF, and the regular chipset fan on the mobo and video card fan will make some noise, but you're not going to be too unhappy since this is your 1st build. Add the fewest number possible of good, speed-controlled fans to keep the inside of the case cool.

Finally, think about ditching the floppy drive for a combo card reader/floppy (I think Mitsumi makes one).

centurion 5 is a sweet ass case, i have one for my p4 rig not the quietest ever but nice, i have a raidmax x1 for my opty rig and its nice too, but if you want tool-free installation i would go with centurion 5. Both of these cases are not intended to be carried around to lans, so the antec lanboy would be your best bet for that
 
I'm partial to silverstone and lian li's.. They cost more but you get more.

I would rather wait 2 weeks and put an extra paychecks worth of savings into my project and not have to compromise a componant.. a year from now you'll wish you had.

Also I'd recomend going SLI or Crossfire because down the road even if you have an out of date card you can throw in another (wich will be alot cheaper) to have a performance increase without shelling out 500$ for a new top of the line card.

These cases are top of the line, you can mod them yourself a little later with lights and what not, but these cases give you a solid base to work off of, and they will serve you well for a good ways to come.

If you get a Silverstone case get extensions for your power supply cables.


Oh, and I wouldn't go for the antec lanboy, I have heard bad stories.

is there any new cases that have come out or any cases that have dropped in price...?

I've been off the forums for a couple months and I'm checking to find a case so I can finally build this thing before spring break
