trying to change title of thread, will not let me do it

The ability to change a thread title may only be available to the Moderators.

There is an option under Thread Tools that allows editing of a thread.

You thread title now refers to Beta 6
 
You're double-clicking on the thread's title on the sub-forum's list of threads, correct?
 
Hit edit button then when the box opens up hit the "Go Advanced" button.
