trying to change from widescreen to 4:3

hello, i'm trying to turn my widescreen into a 4:3 scale with black nothingness on the sides
I play an old game that I can't perform as well with widescreen

i have a toshiba satellite laptop (windows 7 home), i see posts EVERYWHERE on how to do this with a NVIDIA graphics card, which i DO NOT have

I have some VGA Standard or something like that - which doesn't seem to have any settings i can play with

the game used to automatically play in 4:3 scale

untill i updated my bios 1.6 to 1.8 after reformatting my laptop (which is the only thing i did different this time than last time i reformatted my laptop), and i deleted the onboard recovery partition too so i can't restore it to outofbox state..

i would rather find a way to do it without reformatting again without updating the bios because my laptop seems to run 100x better with it...

Run GPU-Z and use it to tell us what GPU you have. We're not going to be able to offer much help until we have at least that much information.
