Trying to burn CD give "possible read error"

I am helping my dad and I have just installed a Cendyne 48x12x48 CD-RW drive. It replaced an old Sony 8x burner. It would burn CD's just fine before the switch. Now everytime I go to copy a CD it says "there is a possible read error. this could prevent the CD from burning correctly. Do you want to continue?" I did have one CD to burn ok and work but several others won't work when the burning process is done. Is this a reader problem? The DVD brand is Samsung and it came with a Dell Dimension 4100. Is this a problem with the reader or the burner?

I'm confused to exactly what you are trying to do. It's not a dvd burner but are you trying to burn dvd's or what???

I am burning regular CDs. I was just pointing the specifics of the source drive, it so happens to be a DVD-rom drive. I'm not trying to copy DVDs with a CD-RW. I have a CD and I want to make a copy of it. When I do so and it reads from the source it will fill the USED READ BUFFER and then give the error "POSSIBLE READ ERROR." It did not do this before I swapped out the burners.
