Trying out Sharegrid (peer to peer renting)

Was looking for a wide angle lens for my Catalina Island trip this weekend and actually found someone local (1hr drive) that had the lens I was interested in. He's a bit out of my way on the pick up but works perfectly for the drop off because he's local to the ferry company.

Price was about half of what the online companies were charging for the same rental period. This was because weekends are half rate and day of pick up and drop off are free. I'll be sure to update my experience if the owner accepts my request.

Well that sucks. My request got denied because he has a shoot on Tues but was moved to Mon and will be needing the lens. I guess I'll take his word since he said he'll give me a discount if I ever rent anything from him in the future.

First experience and it wasn't a positive one. And with everyone being quite a drive away I really don't know if I'll try it again.
