Device drive not found: 'MSCD001'.
No valid CDROM device drivers selected.

I got this error message while trying to use the Win98 boot disk to get CD-Rom going so I could install Windows 98. Anyone know what's up with this?

Either if the CD-ROM is good or bad I think u'll have to try a newer different CD-ROM to get the driver to catch it.
what you can do is grab another CD-ROM. out of diff computer, friends computer, anything, and then try it. It should work with MOST CD-ROMS out there, but it sounds as if it cannot recognize yours.

MSCDEX is not loading the cdrom driver in autoexec.bat. If it's an IDE cdrom, the startup floppy is likely defective or its generic IDE cdrom driver doesn't support your particular drive. If it's a SCSI cdrom, you've got to load the correct SCSI drivers. Simplest way around it, for you, might be to set MB BIOS to boot from the CD.
