I have been fighting with T40/p lcd setting for a while and come to a conclusion that even the LCDs from the same mfg (Samsung or ID Tech in my cases) can have different characteristics (abiet minor in many cases). Anyway, if anyone want to quickly adjust a monitor setting, there is a small neat program called gapa. You can get it from here. IMO, the program is very good and small. However, it adjust the contrast in the way that contradict to what I like (I like the way Powerstrip adjust the contrast better but the program is not free so...) In my case, the brightness and contrast of T40p ID Tech LCD is too bright for my eyes (at max brightness) and too low at a tab lower brightness so I adjust the brightness down 3% and set contrast at 0.93. This give me the near-to-perfect color (a little bit to the cool side of the color but easier to the eyes than the standard setting). JFYI.
