I suggest you post before looking at other people's answers, not very interesting otherwise.

Find the interest of $512.60 for 8 months and 18 days at 7 percent compounded anually.

I was surprised at how many of my friends did not get it.

Two ways to look at it....

One way is what Klandestine said, $0.
The other way is how you originally thought of it as a real math problem. I got $25.41.

it's not really very fair if it's meant to be a trick qn.

cos back in econ and basic finance lessons, they always gave the interest rates per annum and this is a "fair" question to ask.

then again, welcome to ATOT.

Well, you guys are better than this than my friends. I asked 2 of them and they both failed (one is in CS, the other in Chem Eng, taking Engineering economics as well!). Either that, or the people who got fooled simply aren't posting ;)

next time try a "Cloud". One part Ouzo, one part creme de menthe and perhaps a dash of creme.

Its great if you like menth and aniseed flavours.

In all honestly, I've never heard of Ouzo before. What does it taste like (compared to other types of liquors)?

Its the greek national liquor. Tastes like black licorice, as they both have their tastes in aniseed.

If you feel like trying it, I hear "Ouzo No. 12" is among the best. And of course, you simply must put it in a glass with an ice cube. It quickly crystalizes and goes from clear to white.

Ahhh, aniseed, anisette, I should've seen the similarity. Honestly, I can stand black licorice, but thanks for the recommendation.

 for you!
