I have gone through 3 ipad 3's.

#1 Red tinge on the bottom of the screen. Blue tinge on the top of the screen. Yellow tinge on top of screen which went away with use.
#2 Red tinge along left of screen. Blue on the right. Yellow on the screen again which went away with time. One piece of dust under the glass visible on screen. Clearly under glass from day 1.
#3. Upper left hand screen is tinged slight yellow. I can tell a difference as I read the top of a page from left to right. No other defects that I'm aware of.

Should I try exchange again? I do realize that technology isn't perfect and neither is life. However, I did pay 700$ for this item which is a very very significant amount of money for me. I love my ipad and I use it very regularly.
Things I have learned: Buy iPads from WalMart or somewhere with a very liberal return policy. Apple only does advance returns with credit card hold, otherwise you're out an iPad in the process.
Kinda painful as again, I'm using mine daily.
Thoughts?

Yes, exchange it. If I'm paying $700 for a tablet, it better be perfect.

Only problem is, as I have stated, is that I live nowhere even remotely close to an apple store, so my returns would be over the phone. Guess I'll give it a go tomorrow again. You guys convinced me. !

Color me disappointed.

Uhg.

So now I get an ipad that is not only yellow in the upper left hand corner, but one possibly man handled and scratched by UPS in the back and forth. I do admit that the yellowing could be termed slight, but it is there and definitely noticeable during reading on white background. I wonder what kind of nuisance I'd need to be to get it replaced. I'm not trying to game the system, I'd just like a screen that is uniform. Obviously Apple does not expect their screens to be uniform. I guess this is another instance of deemed "within spec."

I wonder if I had done the advance replacement with the CC option, if they would have charged my CC for another iPad when they received my original one and "couldn't duplicate issue." I went with the option of giving the ipad to UPS for return. The rep told me that for my problem, they would most likely replace it. And here I am. Lame. So the rep tells me what I want to hear, then service center sends it right back. Frustrating. I'll call back tomorrow to at least get a tracking# and ask why my ipad was returned and not exchanged.

Through this process I also found out that the "replacements" for exchanges at certain apple stores are just other peoples used iPads. What a slap in the face. Those replacements that come in the brown boxes....used ipads. My replacement I got had a serial number already registered to somebody and it caused somewhat of a hangup. So now I get John Doe's used iPad, yellow in the upper right, man handled by UPS. <3.
