I thought most of this was known already? The GTX just has an extra SLI connector, faster memory allegedly and a slight bump in core speed over the GTS. The GTS only had the dual slot cooler, slight bump in core speed and a few more shaders than the GT. But have any optimizations occurred since the GTS was released? The 9600GT indicates that may be the case, but I believe they are all A2 revision GPU's unless the GPU-Z pic of the 9800GTX is a fake.

So yea... I am still waiting for a few cards to arrive and be dissected to see if there is any truth to any of your claims. But so far you present a pretty bleak prospect for both the GX2 and the GTX... I hope this ISN'T the case cause I wanted to upgrade, we shall see.

HOWEVER I am taking this with a big grain of salt, cause last I heard you were working in the marketing department of BFG and some coworkers from R&D were leaking pictures and info to you...

Now you are getting the info from your boyfriend in XFX R&D... interesting...

As a journalist I think you're terribly wrong. A journalist without sources is not a credible journalist. -- Perhaps things are different in Ireland?

i don't think you know anything about it at all:p

Your job is to read carefully .. i am not a journalist ... i said investigative journalism is where i got my 'start' ;)

My point is that theInq and Fudzlla - as journalists - don't reveal their anonymous sources ... if a 'leaker' has sense, they will contacted them - or another journalist - as 'go between' instead of publically posting a self-admitted "crime" on a prominent tech forum with a trail back to themselves.

here is the first post ... those with judgment, examine it carefully:

About the test computer its athlon x2 4800+, ram is 1.5 GB of RAM microsoft windows xp professional version 2002 service pack 2 registered to node6 then a serial number this is according to left clicking the my computers icon and then going to properties.

THIS IS THE LINK TO THE GPUZ PICTURE BELOW;;;-

Dont know how to show on forum.

Dudewithoutapet thanks for the fix to link

You think the details were wise to post?

The claim here is that the 9800GTX is going to be a G80 based core. Which is ludicrous, why the hell would nvidia use a 90nm process on a new chip when they have a superior process on hand.

I assumed that meant the 8800GTS 512? The 9800GTX is the same G92 chip with/without possible optimizations.

What new information, really? Detailed specs? Release dates? Performance data?

There is nothing morally or factually we can judge from Tulip's post, to be frank. Some of you're overreacting just because she said she had taken a broken GPU-Z shot in less than a proper way. (I believe AnandTech or DailyTech did a similar thing before Phenom launched - running a quick Cinebench while the bouncer went to bathroom or something) For everything else there is no way to prove or disprove what she says because basically it's a marketing story (or conspiracy theory if you so prefer to call). I am kinda puzzled what's such a big deal here.

guys, this is nothing new that we haven't already been talking about for days, anyway. There is mounting evidence from numerous sources that the 9800gtx is going to be just a slightly faster 8800gts 512 that can run tri-sli. Some of us have speculated that 9800gtx will have better implementation of AA/AF, which would obviously be a huge boon at higher resolutions, but it does seem extremely unlikely that even with such improvements it would offer significantly better performance than 8800gtx at high res with AA/AF. In short, gt200 and r700 had better get here fast.

edit: I don't get the attacks on tulips, either. I personally think that she's full of shit because all of her info could have been obtained online already. However, I don't CARE if she's telling the truth or not. she's not the first person to say that 9800gtx sucks, and she definitely won't be the last. Let's keep our eyes on the ball here people; ie, let's encourage her to get some REAL info on the 9800 series before the nda is released and/or she gets fired!

i only made one major observation ... morals completely aside - i.e - it was very unwise to post the *details* that were posted that act like a trail of bread crumbs right back to the OP - IF nvidia decides to pursue action based on the first post ... two people will probably lose their jobs ... there can be consequences if it is true

that's all ... and what is so difficult to understand about that 'deal'?
-besides that, the information "only" tells AMD where to set their r700 clocks :p

sorry apoppin, but I don't think that anybody from amd reads this web site. if they did, somebody over there might have offered me free spider platform crap by now...oh, wait, I already switched to c2d and I aint goin' back...I do have a file server, I guess they could convince me to run a 790fx platform with quad sli 3870's in that if they asked me nicely enough...and it was free...I would actually probably even pay shipping for that. hector, are you listening??? send me some free crap mofo! :):)

I personally think Tulip is an alter ego of some bored AT member. Few will admit to entering a chat room as a female. But how many actually have? (more than just me I bet) Oops... did I verbalize that? ;)

I mean come on, any one of us with general hardware knowledge can regurgitate rumored specs colored with poor grammer and accomplish something similar.

Who knows. Maybe Tulip does exist. Regardless, what juicy freakin drama! We're lovin this shit! Look at the number of replies and views. I wish one of my posts could do so well.

To those who took the high road (apoppin), there's a spot in heaven for you. I'd so fire her ass if I were the boss and found out.

But back in reality, there is no spoon..

She is merely giving an insight on how companies like NV think they are the certer of the universe and every customer should eat what they throw. It's good understand these from a confimed source so that next time we can make a valid reasoning.

And don't think that you are going to heaven by being rude to someone helpful.

BYE BYE U ALL IT WAS FUN TILL apoppin CAME ALONG!!! NOW MY HEAD IS JUST PAINING!!

***********************************************************

9800 GTX was never ever meant to exist like this.

This all is a very deep plot, i was told that since nvidia 9800 GX2 was NOT real competition to the AMD 3870 X2 threat nvidia worked fast and used common elements.

THIS IS HOW 9800 GTX CAME TO BE:-

3870 X2 has huge performance fig. in higher resolution than any 8800 so the team took the fastest card all ready made AKA 8800 GTX as base.

The 8800 GTX was too expensive and also did not perform that well in high resolution so they added more memory but to keep costs down they used 256bit 9600 extended PCBs.

People say that the core is a new tuned G92 but here is the catch its not, it is a core from 8800 GTS series. NO CHANGE AT ALL

This is a publicity stunt they want to take on 3870 X2 with 9800 GTX and thus 9800 gx2 will look better than both 9800 GTX or 3870 X2...!!!

Forgot to add this:- See better gameing speed's but only with those games that are made with NVIDIAs collaboration program and also the reason 9800 GTX came to be was that the patners did not like 9800 GX2 at all.

The SLI will also be based on the new layout than the older simpler one so you will get a SLI jump from 8800 GTX SLI scores...!!!

WILL UPDATE INFO ON 3 CARD SLI AFTER A WHILE

BTW 9800 GTX orignally was suppose to sport a new core all together and suppose to be launched in Q4 2008....

***********************************************************************

Update 2 - HERE is the 411 on the same core i just came back according to him " The easy way to see the same core architecture is by comparative analysis of its sub BIOS Subroutine. It does not mean anything if the main processers are different."

I looked at him with a blank face and he said "Haha Dont judge a book by its cover than i said you mean Dont judge a graphics card by its core" I made my firt nerddy joke i feel proud.

Anyways he said the ROPE is the same the SHADERS are the same and DIE SIZE is the same. Other things that are same depend on the PCB that is also an extended ver. and is similar in most aspecst.

Now there goes my notebooks two pages filled with fast written words only i can under stand...!!!

Did Ya'll catch this?

I don't buy any of this stuff posted by OP, frankly this is a petty thread. Dear OP, please go and post nonsense in other forums, but leave Anandtech forums out of it. I also find insuffiecient EVIDENCE from you to back your claims. Take some undercover photos of the XFX labs you work in to give us some real pictures of the place where you claim you have seen this stuff, until then you can brag all you want and noone will take your word for anything.

of course they do ... AMD/nvidia/intel all have viral marketing very active here

i am 100% certain that nvidia is aware of this thread

Seriously, can we just lock this shit down? It was obvious from his spelling, grammar and signature that he's a kid whose parents procreated on the top of a Myspace server 14 years ago.
