Well, then I hope that's exactly what he does... more self-sabotage. I want to see him thrashed on election day in a historical fashion. That more than anything I can think of right now would give me hope that the US has a path to survival.
Yes.

I have no idea if it will happen or not but by far the best thing for America would be if the GOP is absolutely obliterated this November. Not just Trump, but his enablers in the House and Senate as well.

The GOP sold out the country and embraced a mentally ill criminal because they thought that was better than mildly expanding health care access and higher taxes on the rich. I really hope America teaches them a lesson as to why you’re supposed to put the country first.

Obama would just get nauseous at the thought of being on the same ticket as him and say, "no thank you."

Trump has done so much damage, there will still be shit to cleanup, even after Biden's second term.

It's going to feel like housekeeping does when they have to do the morning cleanup after a rock band has trashed the hotel suite.

This might cheer you up. He is a magician and escape artist, but it looks more and more like Houdini is fumbling with lock in the water this time.

Points to Ponder:

They see the writing on the wall. Donny bows out for 'medical reasons'. Mikey take over. Evangelicals rejoice and flock to get him elected. Mikey pardons him and fires Barr only to pardon him also.

They stay stubborn and get beat in November. They step up their destruction, intent on doing as much damage as they can in two months in revenge. Donny and BillyBarr both resign in mid January, elevating Mikey who immediately pardons them both.

If they vanquish Mitch and Lindsey, and get decisive control of both houses, the cleanup could be rather swift.

I wish that were true but I doubt it. The main problem here is one that can't be easily fixed unless Biden vigorously prosecutes former Trump administration officials, which I doubt he will do.

What have we learned over the last 4 years? That if the president decides to commit crimes using his powers of office and then fire anyone who attempts to investigate him there really isn't much that can be done about it because impeachment and conviction is essentially impossible. The only recourse is voting him out but the misconduct we uncovered here was him trying to rig his own re-election!

What needs to be done is that the courts need to be vastly expanded and filled with judges who do not accept this lawless interpretation of the Constitution where the president is above all laws. That's going to take a while.

I’m worried what his cult members will do when he loses. Hopefully it’s as peaceful as drinking kookaid and not murder sprees.

As much as I've been finding myself beating the drum of "fatalism is no better than complacency", I feel like Dems need to not underestimate the level of voter suppression that the GOP is likely to try. I mean, I would expect things to tighten between now and the election anyways, but I think we have to assume that that's going to be a big part of what they're going to try to turn the tide.

Is it just up to Biden whether or not the culpable are prosecuted? SDNY have some autonomy, right? Maybe Biden's AG would have the autonomy to prosecute, and even with independence from the White House. I mean you're not seeing the Justice Dept having autonomy now, but I think there should be a great deal of it.

Barr of all people was said to have ordered the clearing out of peaceful protestors for his boss's photo op holding what we were told was a bible. That's pretty clear evidence to me that dump has no sense of propriety in government.

I think they'll buy guns but not use them. What can they do? You'll see some wacko tweets... so what?

You're right that Biden can (and should!) just tell the DOJ to pursue all cases it thinks it can win and then make it abundantly clear that he means ALL CASES, no matter who they involve. I hope he does this. Trump is going to pardon himself and everyone around him on his way out though, which could make it difficult.

I guess my main point is that to re-establish the norms Trump broke people need to see that breaking the law and using the government for your own personal benefit won't just hurt you electorally, it will land you in prison. That's how you get the next would be Trump to think twice about it.

See, that's the problem. The AG does that, not the Prez. Or at least that's the way it's supposed to be, if we have a real Prez and a real AG.

I hear Berman's available. And Preet Bharara.

We can't just let a POTUS stomp all over the laws/constitution, do all manner of hideous behavior involving criminal activity by himself and his cohorts and let him pardon them all (including himself! ). What kind of government is that? That's just plain ludicrous. That is not rule of law, that's a mockery of the law... the law thoroughly neutralized!

I really think we should just abolish the pardon power altogether as it's a power super open to abuse that's a relic of the monarchy.

The way to undue unjust convictions or whatever should not be the unaccountable whims of one person.
That's been my feeling all along. Presidential pardon should not exist. Agree 100%.

Trump could try to propose a federal law making it illegal to record police. Red meat for his base because of the detrimental effect on people of color. Gotta get those racists to the polls and more "law and order" shit.

Pardons would only shield them from Federal crimes. tRump, especially, is really exposed to New York State prosecution. I am sure that DC, Virginia, Colorado, etc. could go after Barr based on his malfeasance. None of those States have Republicon governors, so they will not get a State pardon.

I’m still for let the nation and heal. Unfortunately Biden still has to appease to MAGA base. As dividing impeachment was, can’t imagine the circus show of seeing the orange baby taken away in handcuffs.

But everyone’s argument of holding everyone accountable and to make sure no future POTUS try the same thing. Is there really anyone in the world as morally and ethically corrupt as him? Let alone to attempt to run and get elected ever again? If anything it’s just going to make him a martyr and further divide a nation even more so than currently.

Biden said he’s going to be hands off his AG (well maybe the occasional neck rub) so really he doesn’t have to worry about this. So up to the AG to sift through all the documents (well assuming they aren’t being destroyed) from the past 4 years and see what they can get a conviction on.

The orange menace saying Biden can't speak is beyond absurd. Menace can't compose a proper English sentence to save his fat ass.

Much of what tRump has done is through executive order. This can be undone easily. Having the Senate and House gets more thing codified. Also bring back the 60 votes in the Senate. We have seen how they used this to their advantage. Assure they never get to that again. We have to protect things like the 200 judges from happening again, regardless of how it makes things. That is the reason, it hard so they work together. Not having the 60 vote protocol in Senate means there is no incentive to work together.
